MONROE - Monroe Parks and Recreation has some openings in the pre-school swim lessons Skippers 1 and 2. Skippers 1 is for 3- and 4-year-olds, and Skippers 2 is for 4- and 5-year-olds.
The classes are for children who are comfortable without their parents in the water with them.
Classes are Monday through Thursday, with Fridays reserved for make-up sessions due to inclement weather.
All classes are from 12:20 to 12:50 p.m. The cost is $30 for residents and $40 for non-residents.
Skippers 1: Session 2 is July 11-21. Session 1 has already ended.
Skippers 2: Session 1 is Monday through July 7, with no classes on July 4. Session 2 is Aug. 1-11.

The Monroe outdoor pool will be closed at 4 p.m. Wednesday for a Monroe Area Swim Team meet.
Pool hours for July 4 will be 1 to 5 p.m. for public swim and 5 to 6 p.m. for adult swim.
The pool also will be closed during the day July 9 for the Dr. Stiles Invitational but will re-open at 5 p.m. Adults should call the pool at 608-329-2476 to verify the opening time. Only the baby pool will be open during the swim meet.
