MONROE — The Monroe Parks and Recreation Department has four spots open in the After School Program for this coming school year.
This program is held at Abe Lincoln School and children entering 5K through fifth grade can participate. Recreation aide Theresa Klemm and high school staff will supervise a variety of activities such as: snacks, reading, homework, crafts, speakers, games, gym activities, science experiments, matchbox cars, Legos, dolls, coloring and more. This is Klemm’s third year leading the After School Program and she brings years of creative experience.
She brings fun ideas to keep children active and having fun as the mother of four boys. The After School Program runs from 3:30 to 5 p.m. from the first day of school through mid-May. The program is extended from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on early release Mondays. There is no program on “no school days” and holidays.
If school is released due to weather, there will be no After School Program. Parents may register their children at the temporary Parks and Recreation Office at the Streets Dept. 1064 5th Ave., Monroe.
