Online Alzheimer’s Community and Family Education begins Feb. 1

MONROE — Local Dementia Outreach Specialist, Teena Monk-Gerber, will be offering free online community education on brain health and family education on caring for those with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia.

Boost Your Brain Health will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 1 (RSVP by Jan. 25). Learn about how the brain works and get the latest tips on improving brain health. This program features brain basics as well as scientifically rooted nutritional and lifestyle advice. 

We All Forget: What is Normal Aging and When Should I be Concerned will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Feb. 15 (RSVP by Feb. 8). Come learn what is normal for the brain as a person ages, how memory works and what one can do if they are concerned for themself or others. 

Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. March 1 (RSVP by Feb. 22). Learn the difference between Alzheimer’s and dementia, discover the causes of dementia and receive practical strategies one can use for themself or for a loved one.

Communication Tips and Strategies will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. March 15 (RSVP by March 8). Learn ways to effectively and compassionately communicate with someone who has dementia.

Understanding Behavioral Changes will be held from 1 to 2:30 p.m. March 29 (RSVP by March 22). Understand the reasons why behavior changes occur and get problem-solving tips to help prevent and cope with them.
