MONROE — Canadian actor and uber geek Charles Ross will be bringing his solo madcap creation, “One-Man Star Wars Trilogy” at 7:30 p.m. May 11 to the Monroe High School Performing Arts Center.
The show condenses and retells the plots of the first three original films into one 60 minute production. There are no costumes, no props and no sets — he single-handedly plays all the characters with voice impressions, sings the music, flies the ships and fights both sides of the light saber battles.
As a gifted comedian, humor comes easily for Ross. He also has an ability to imitate other voices realistically. One is able to hear the particular tones of Alec Guinness as Obi Wan Kenobi in the brief lines Ross delivers, the peculiar tones and breath of Darth Vader and the roar of Jabba the Hutt, which are all authentically reproduced.
Born in a northern British Columbia, Ross spent his early years “in a galaxy far, far away” watching “Star Wars” videos. It was the discovery of a passion for acting — and a move to more southerly climates — that brought this geek-at-heart back to Earth. While at college, Ross formed a friendship and collaborating partnership with actor, writer and director T. J. Dawe. Dawe has directed four of Ross’s solo shows; the first being the wildly successful “One Man Star Wars Trilogy.”
As writer and performer of “One-Man Star Wars Trilogy” and “One-Man Lord of the Rings,” Ross has toured the globe for the last 11 years, delighting audiences with his unique and frenetic solo shows.
This show is suitable for Star Wars fans from ages 6 to Yoda.
