MONTICELLO - Getting more books into the hands of eager young readers is the goal of the "One for Books" drive at Monticello Elementary School. Contributors who donate a buck for books not only help build elementary classroom libraries, they also help children and families in need. Scholastic Book Fairs will give a matching donation of up to 1 million books to three non-profit organizations dedicated to helping families in need: Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, National Center for Family Literacy, and Kids in Distressed Situations, Inc.
Contributors are invited to write their names on a "One for Books" certificate. All certificates will be displayed at the school book fair planned for Family Literacy Night on April 23. Donate at the high school or elementary office, send your contribution with a student, or contact Karen Ballin at 938-4194 for further information.
