‘Obtaining Military Records’ topic at upcoming June 7 GCGS meeting

MONROE — The Green County Genealogical Society (GCGS) will present “Obtaining Military Records” by Clayton Ruegsegger at 10 a.m. on June 7 in the Monroe Public Library community room on the second floor.

Ruegsegger will explain how people can obtain military service records for both themselves and for others, including deceased relatives.

He will have an emphasis on the records of the deceased relatives for genealogical purposes.

Ruegsegger was born in Monroe and raised on a farm outside of South Wayne. He served as an infantryman in the United States Marine Corps and the Army Airborne. He spent a few years in Iraq during the Iraq War. He has served as the Green County Veterans Service Officer since January 2010. He has had an interest in history and military history since he was a child.
