Northwest Illinois Audubon Society program set
Church News

FREEPORT — The Northwest Illinois Audubon Society will be hosting a virtual program, via Zoom, “Gone Solar” Story: St. John United Church of Christ presented by Senior Pastor Hank Fairman at 7 p.m. Dec. 1.

In summer 2019, members and friends at St. John United Church of Christ, Freeport embarked on a major project in creation care and environmental justice by installing solar panels. Through this effort, solar panels have been installed and are producing enough renewable electric energy to provide power needed to operate the church campus. The goal is to make St. John UCC the first 100% self-generated solar-powered faith community in Illinois, and the first 100% renewable electric powered business in Freeport and Stephenson County.

For persons who want to join the program, email nwilaudubon@gmail.com to receive the link and password to join via Zoom. The meeting begins with brief announcements followed by the program with time for questions and discussions at the end. The public is welcome to attend.
