ALBANY - Cherie Norquay will lead the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. worship services on Sunday at the Albany United Methodist Church, 500 Park St.
After receiving her degree in music from the University of Wisconsin, Norquay spent several years directing music in church and teaching piano. When expecting her third of five children, Norquay stepped away from a career path in music, and focused on raising her children. It wasn't until a mission trip to Uganda in 2009 that she returned to music.
Norquay began writing down music and when the songs continued to overflow, she ventured into a recording studio. This past year, Norquay, her husband, John, and kids went to Nashville to work with three-time Grammy Award winning producer, Phil Naish. Norquay recorded her first solo album, "Remnant." Her youngest daughter, Annalie, performed on the song "Your Love," based on the children's song "Jesus Loves Me."
A free-will offering will be taken to support Norquay's ministry.
