MONROE - The Green County Development Corporation (GCDC) announced that it is seeking nominations for several outstanding business awards. Recipients of the awards will be announced during GCDC's Annual Meeting and Recognition Dinner, scheduled for March 29 in Monroe.
"We are coming out of a very challenging period, yet several area businesses embarked on expansions and had some significant accomplishments," said GCDC Executive Director, Anna Schramke. "It's a great time to celebrate both the large and small achievements. In addition, it gives all of the nominees a chance to showcase their businesses. I encourage all businesses/ business owners to participate in the program."
Each year, GCDC recognizes key people and businesses that have added to the strength of the county and its economic growth during the past year. The Outstanding Business Award is presented to existing businesses that demonstrate outstanding commitment to the county's economic growth through innovation, job creation, new investment, and/or extra-ordinary long-time interest in supporting others in business. In the past, GCDC has recognized both small and large businesses. Last year, Outstanding Business Awards were presented to Emmi-Roth Käse USA, Ltd., Grande Cheese and New Glarus Home.
In addition, GCDC also recognizes outstanding entrepreneurs. The Entrepreneurial Spirit Award is presented to a company that has been in operation less than seven years.
The key characteristics of an entrepreneurial firm are interest in fast growth and the focus on innovation. GCDC presents this award to business owners that have started a business and who exemplify the characteristics of an entrepreneur including creativity, integrity, and a commitment to economic growth.
Any individual, group or business may nominate one of the Green County business awards and businesses may nominate themselves. Nominations can be made by e-mailing GCDC at gcdc@tds.net or calling (608) 328-9452.
