NEW GLARUS — The New Glarus School District hosted its annual Spelling Bee on Wednesday, Jan. 7, in the New Glarus High School Auditorium. The event showcased the academic talent, preparation, and perseverance of students across the district.

A total of 25 students from grades 4-8 participated in this year’s competition. After several challenging rounds, Lev Bartlett, a sixth-grade student, was crowned the Spelling Bee Champion with the winning word “chartreuse.” The First Runner-Up was Declan Umhoefer, a seventh-grade student, who also demonstrated impressive spelling skills throughout the competition.

The evening was marked by excellent sportsmanship and strong support among students, creating a positive and encouraging atmosphere for all participants. The district extends its appreciation to all fourth through eighth-grade teachers who played an important role in preparing students and helping select participants for the event.

Bartlett and Umhoefer will represent the New Glarus School District at the Regional Spelling Bee in Stoughton at 6 p.m. on Feb. 11.

The New Glarus School District congratulates all participants for their hard work and dedication, and thanks families and staff for their continued support of student learning and achievement.
