NEW GLARUS — The New Glarus School District hosted Family STEAM Night on Wednesday, February 25, welcoming families and community members for an evening of hands-on learning and exploration.
Held at the New Glarus Middle School, the event marked the return of a beloved district winter tradition. Families enjoyed a wide variety of interactive demonstrations and activities highlighting Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics (STEAM). These included 3D printing, Math games, a phlebotomy station, and the Van de Graaf generator. Throughout the evening, students and staff created engaging stations that encouraged curiosity, creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving for learners of all ages.
One of the highlights of the evening was the Robotics Showcase. Families visited the robotics room to see demonstrations from both the middle school and high school robotics programs. Students participating in First LEGO League demonstrated their competition robots in action, ran challenge courses, answered questions, and guided younger students through introductory coding experiences using practice robots.
The event was well attended and supported by numerous middle and high school student volunteers whose leadership and enthusiasm helped make the night a success.
Family STEAM Night once again proved to be a celebration of learning and innovation, student voice, and community connection. The district looks forward to continuing this tradition in the years ahead. Thank you to all students and staff who helped to make this evening a success.
