NEW GLARUS — The New Glarus School District recently recognize two middle school students for their performance at the recent Wisconsin FFA Sectional Leadership Development Event held in DeForest.

New Glarus Middle School students Lena Nyhus and Sadie Mitchell represented the National FFA Organization through their participation in the Leadership Development Event (LDE), a highly competitive contest that highlights students’ leadership, communication, and career skills. Both students delivered exceptional performances after months of preparation and practice that began in the fall.

Lena earned first place in the sectional competition, while Sadie finished with an impressive second place. As the sectional champion, Lena qualified to advance to the State Leadership Development Event at the Wisconsin FFA State Convention in June. Lena’s sectional victory places her among the top 10 competitors in Wisconsin. Sadie’s second-place finish places her among the top 20 competitors statewide, an outstanding achievement in such a competitive event.

“This is a tremendous accomplishment for both students,” said FFA Advisor Hanna Mielke. “Leadership Development Events are extremely competitive, and Lena and Sadie have shown incredible dedication. They have been practicing and refining their skills since the fall, and their hard work truly paid off.”

The New Glarus community congratulates Lena Nyhus and Sadie Mitchell for their hard work, commitment, and leadership. Their success reflects the strength of the district’s agricultural education and FFA program and highlights the opportunities available for students to grow as leaders.
