NEW GLARUS — Ten New Glarus High School students participated in the prestigious Dorian Vocal Festival on January 11-12 at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.  The students accepted were June Endicott (Senior), Jackson Umhoefer (Senior), Jenna Heil (Junior), Finian Hoeper (Junior), Lizzie Smith (Senior), Nala Williams (Junior), AJ Fleener (Senior), Dylan Gardner (Junior), Azik Weisheit (Senior), and Chloe White (Junior).

The Dorian Vocal Festival is an annual event that brings together nearly 1,000 high school juniors and seniors from across the Midwest. Students are selected through a competitive application process based on their experience in choir, private vocal lessons, and vocal ensembles.

During the two-day festival, students worked closely with Luther College music faculty, college students, and guest clinicians. Participants learned five challenging choral selections, culminating in a grand concert performance on January 12th.

Students were also given the opportunity to audition for the Outstanding Soloist Competition. Of the approximately 200 students who auditioned, only five were selected to perform at the opening of the final concert. Among the New Glarus participants, Nala Williams and June Endicott were selected as semi-finalists, while Jackson Umhoefer and AJ Fleener received Honorable Mention recognition.

The New Glarus School District congratulates all participating students on their selection and accomplishments and commends them for representing the district with excellence at this highly respected regional music event.
