NGHS students excel at SkillsUSA regional competition

NEW GLARUS — New Glarus High School students recently demonstrated their talent, professionalism, and career-ready skills at the SkillsUSA Regional Competition held on Friday, January 30 at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville. Competing against students from across the region. New Glarus High School earned multiple top placements across several competitive events.

Leading the results, Logan Ferguson earned First Place in Carpentry, showcasing exceptional technical skill, precision, and craftsmanship. In addition, Claire Mondloch captured First Place in Welding Sculpture, demonstrating creativity, welding expertise, and attention to detail.

New Glarus students also achieved strong finishes in team and communication-based events. A team of students, including Sydney Doll, Eva Gruenenfelder, Maya Martinson, and Sophie Smith earned Second Place in Entrepreneurship, highlighting their ability to develop and present innovative business concepts. Landon Marty earned Third Place in Prepared Speech, demonstrating confidence, organization, and effective public speaking skills.

SkillsUSA is a nationally recognized organization that prepares students for careers in technical, skilled, and service occupations through hands-on competitions and leadership development. Participation in SkillsUSA provides students with real-world experience while reinforcing employability skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and professionalism.
