MONROE — Inpatient Services Nursing Assistant Bryan Schroeder has been named the first recipient of Monroe Clinic’s BEE Award. Schroeder has been a member of the Monroe Clinic team for two years.

Schroeder was nominated by Inpatient Services nurse Janet Fenley. Her nomination shared that “there are so many reasons Bryan deserves this award, but one situation sticks out most. Bryan drove to Walmart after his shift one night to buy personal care items for a patient who was a long-haul truck driver from Utah. This kind act received thanks from the patient and his wife back home. Bryan didn’t need to do this, but he saw someone in need and took action — something he does every day on the inpatient floor.”

Many of Schroeder’s coworkers and family attended his BEE Award ceremony on the Inpatient floor of the hospital. Among those in attendance were Schroeder’s fiancé and fellow Monroe Clinic Nursing Assistant Sarah Kind and Schroeder’s father, Eric Schroeder, who is a CT Technologist at Monroe Clinic.

The BEE Award was created to recognize any non-nursing staff member who demonstrates excellent quality care, extraordinary compassion, focus on the patient and the patient’s needs and effective collaboration with other members on the patient-care team.

Monroe Clinic asks the community to help spotlight the extraordinary contributions of our staff, like Bryan, by nominating them for the BEE Award. Nomination forms are available at Monroe Clinic greeter’s desks and online at www.monroeclinic.org/beeaward.
