Typical of the schools of the time, this is a frame school with three tall windows in the classroom. In the early years, the schools were built with two front doors, one for the boys and the other for the girls. As they quit using wood to heat the buildings, many added a small entryway to eliminate the loss of some of the warm air. Notice the bicycles, and the pump alongside the building from which they had to carry water into the school.
