MONROE - Monroe Theatre Guild's Youth Choirs present their holiday concert on Sunday, Dec. 6, in the concert hall at the Monroe Arts Center. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., and the concert will be presented at 7 p.m. Admission is by donation.

Both the Junior Choir, ages 7-12, and the Senior Choir, ages 13-25, will be performing traditional and not-so-traditional holiday selections. The youth choirs have been rehearsing for the past five weeks and will amaze the audience with their complex harmonies and energetic performance.

MTG Youth Choirs also will give a preview performance Saturday, Dec. 5, at the Festival of Trees event sponsored by the Monroe Chamber of Commerce.

The MTG Youth Choir program made its debut this spring, and since has nearly doubled in size to 45 members. The curriculum is presented in an environment of sharing, growth and recreation, and allows an opportunity to learn musical discipline, build self-confidence, foster teamwork and provide constructive musical activity. No previous vocal training or choral singing experience is required of the participants. As with all MTG youth programs, no one is turned away from inability to pay choir fees. In this fall session, local businesses, individuals and service clubs sponsored 11 choir members.
