MONROE — The Monroe Theatre Guild is thrilled to announce a captivating new event, Game Show Nights, scheduled for April 4 and 5 on the Colony Brands Stage. Board Members Jerry Bredeson, Andrew Rocheleau, and Jennie Lembach are producing and directing this unique parody inspired by one of America’s beloved pastimes, the television game show.
In a board meeting held earlier this year, President Jennie Lembach emphasized the necessity of exploring new initiatives this spring. In reaction to this, committed gamers Bredeson and Rocheleau quickly suggested the concept of reinventing television game shows. This idea took shape, resulting in the creation of Game Show Nights, which draw inspiration from improvisation and spontaneous interactions to create a fun filled evening of unrehearsed entertainment.
The TV game shows to be featured in this two-night event include The Match Game, Hollywood Squares, Name That Tune, Let’s Make a Deal, and a reinvented version of The Newlywed Game, The Couples Game. Helping to recreate these popular game shows is a troupe of local comedians and actors taking on the personalities of beloved celebrity game show panelists. A partial list of personalities to be represented are Minnie Pearl, Carol Burnett, Rip Taylor, Chris Farley, Betty White, Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez, including Nostradamus, who reportedly made an appearance on The Match Game ’77, with more celebrities to be introduced each of the two nights.
The evening will also feature a cash bar and various prizes. Audience members are encouraged to participate as contestants in the games, because what’s a game show without contestants and prizes? Those interested in becoming potential contestants can express their interest when purchasing tickets.
