MRP opens new season with 'Thrice as Nice'

ORANGEVILLE - The Mighty Richland Players Dessert Theater, in its 14th year of providing entertainment for the community, announced is shows for the season.

The season opens with "Thrice as Nice." A collage of three one-act plays, including "A Matter of Husbands," written by Ferenc Molnar, "The Little German Man" and "Auction of Famous Bricks" will be performed at 7:30 p.m. March 20 and 21 and at 2 p.m. March 22.

"You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown," written by Michael Mayer and originally produced in New York by Arthur Whitelaw and Gene Persson, will be brought to life as Charlie Brown pines after the little red-headed girl, Snoopy and Linus' daydream, and Lucy tries to get Schroeder to notice her. The dessert show will be performed at 7:30 p.m. June 26 and 27. A special performance has been added at 1 p.m. June 27. A dessert will not be offered during this performance, and seating will be theater-style. There will be a dessert matinee at 2 p.m. June 28.

"Opal's Million Dollar Duck" is the fall show. The comedy was written by John Patrick, who also wrote "The Teahouse of the August Moon." The storyline has summer stock divas, Desmond and Queenie, interested in what they think is an old master's painting found in Opal's antique shop. When the owner won't sell the painting to them, they embark on crazy schemes to acquire the painting, including flattery and knock-out drops. Show dates are at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 18 and 19 and at 2 p.m. Sept. 20.

"The Annual Original Christmas Show" will include skits and holiday tunes to help the audience get into the holiday spirit. Show dates are at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 28 and at 2 p.m. Nov. 29.
