More than 700 acres added to Avon Bottoms Wildlife Area

BRODHEAD - Green County Conservation League directors Bob Blankenhorn, Gary Sutherland and Norman Williams were present at the dedication of the 700-plus acres added to the Avon Bottoms Wildlife Area. The dedication was held Sept. 26 near Brodhead in Rock County.

The league donated $7,750 towards the purchase. The Robert Hahlen Estate was another donor towards the purchase.

Bryan Buenzow of the DNR worked with 31 groups to donate towards the purchase of this land. DNR Assistant Deputy Secretary Scott Gunderson was present and spoke on the importance of the purchase for the preservation of the native habitat for wildlife in the area.

An upcoming annual meeting of the Green County Conservation League will be held at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Argyle Rod and Gun Club.
