Monticello woman wins wool contest

MONTICELLO - Cherie Norquay of Monticello was named the adult winner of the 2010 "Make It W^ith Wool" contest Sept. 11 during the Wisconsin Sheep & Wool Festival.

Norquay's entry consi sted of a fully lined ivory dress designed by Project Runway and a crocheted lace cardigan. As the adult winner of the competition, Norquay received a $150 cash award and will submit photos and a video, as well as her garment, to a panel of judges who will select the national adult winner.

This year's adult competition will take place Dec. 28 in Wisconsin. The winner will receive a trip to the national "Make It With Wool" competition to be held in Reno, Nev. in Jan. 2011. Two of Norquay's daughters, Chelsea, 18, and Eleanor, 8, also competed in the "Make It With Wool" contest.

Chelsea was the runner-up in the senior division with a crocheted dress and purple mohair coat. Eleanor's pre-teen entry was a navy blue skirt with a kick pleat and fringed hem.

Each received prizes, which included gift certificates provided by businesses and organizations in the area.
