MONTICELLO - More than 500 students will participate in a Wisconsin State Music Association sanctioned Six Rivers East Large Group Festival from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, hosted by Monticello Schools.
Three adjudicators will be critiquing one site of bands and one site of choruses from the following school districts: Albany, Argyle, Barneveld, Black Hawk, Juda, Monticello, and Pecatonica.
The Festival is free and open to the public. Both middle and high school groups will participate.
During Large Group Festivals, choruses and bands are critiqued on three numbers for a rating.
High school directors choose which class they would like to be graded in and one of the numbers chosen is from the WSMA sanctioned list in that level.
The festival format allows students at various levels of experience to participate.
In addition to the WSMA Large Group Festival April 23, the WSMA State Solo-Ensemble Festival will be held for students in southwestern Wisconsin on Saturday, April 26, at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville campus.
Many students from the Six Rivers East Schools will also be attending that event. Check with the school music director for the schedules of when band and choruses perform.
