MONTICELLO - The Monticello FFA held its annual FFA Banquet April 7 at Rhemstedt Gymnasium to recognize FFA members and supporters for their accomplishments over the past year.
Special recognition for the evening included Cory Bauman presenting a new award, the Daniel Jay Karlen Memorial Leadership Award. This honor for top leadership in FFA was given to Emilie Gietzel, past FFA president, for her strong commitment and dedication to the organization.
The Honorary Chapter FFA Degree was presented to Barbara Duerst and Dave Gietzel, parents of Emilie Gietzel.
Lastly, the Star Greenhand, recognizing the top high school student in their second year of FFA, was presented to Erin Lehr.
The evening included many additional awards, door prizes donated from area businesses and supporters, a meal and the installation of the new 2016-2017 Monticello FFA Officer Team.
Next year's officers are: Megan Lehr, president; Marissa Peterson, vice president; Brittany Disch, secretary; Karlene Walters, treasurer; Madalyn Holtz, reporter; Kolton Shulka, sentinel; and Trent Siegenthaler, parliamentarian.
