Monticello Class of 1955 holds reunion

MONTICELLO - The 1955 graduation class of Monticello High School held its 55th class reunion on Oct. 23 at the New Glarus Hotel. A tour of the Monticello Area Historical Museum was held, with dinner following at the hotel. Greg Anderson's Band entertained for listening and dancing pleasure, featuring Barb Meier (a member of the class of '55) who regularly sings and yodels with the band.

The following were in attendance: Carl and Elaine (Beckwith) Hitchcock, Daryl and Jean (Bidllingmaier) Kleckner, Carla Blum, Ken and Katherine (Blum) Glass, Duane and Mabel (Elmer) Shippy, James and Shirley (Escher) Schommer, Emilie (Gempler) Bau, Richard and Carol (Grunder) Losenegger, Edward and Donna (Koller) Riese, (both members), Nathan Marty, Robert and Barbara (Studer) Meier, both members, Charles and Helen (Meyers) Rowland, John and Sharon Schmid, Darrell and Beverly (Babler) Hilliard, Robert and Glorianne (Thoman) Rufenacht, Charles and Marlene Williams, Robert Klassy, Marjorie (Zentner) Waelchli, Eugene and Joan Crouch, Garth and Beverly Kundert, Gary and Grace (Hoffman) Hoffman. Those unable to attend were: Caroline (Carroll) Sherer, Donald Robert and Alfred Schumacher. Deceased class members are: Leo Hauri, Ardyce (Rosen) Heuer, Leon Elmer, Doris (Stauffacher) Gilbertson, Donald Karlen, Zane Zurbuchen, Jim Beutel, and Judith (Karlen) Walker. Word has since been received from the state of Washington of the death of Gareth Kundert, who was able to attend the reunion with his wife Beverly.

The class will be holding its next reunion in 2012.
