MONROE - Orchid Monroe, LLC, has been nominated by The Bank of New Glarus for a 2010 Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year award. They are one of 53 Wisconsin companies nominated for this year's prestigious awards and are competing in the medium company size category, for companies with 100 to 299 employees.
Orchid Monroe is a provider of complex metal stamped assemblies supplying such industries as lighting, automotive, industrial, and power generation. They focus on "clean technologies," supplying primary motor components as well as drive solutions for electric/hybrid vehicle drive systems. Orchid is similarly involved with manufacturers of wind turbine generators. Their operations include lamination stamping, aluminum die casting, coil slitting, annealing, and welding, among other specialties.
Founded in 2004, Orchid Monroe employs 139 hard working people in 240,000 square feet of manufacturing space, and processes more than two million pounds of steel per week.
"It is nice to have a company as progressive and innovative as Orchid, right in our backyard," Warren Laube, President and CEO of New Glarus Bank said. "They are pushing the boundaries of green power generation and clean technologies, and proving good jobs for the people in our area."
The Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year award winners are selected by an independent panel of judges and held in confidence until being revealed during a black-tie awards banquet at The Pfister Hotel on Feb. 24.
Celebrating its 23rd year, the MOTY program recognizes manufacturers of all sizes and industries for their contributions to the great state of Wisconsin.
The accounting and advisory firm of Baker Tilly, the law firm of Michael Best Friedrich LLP, and the business association Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce sponsor the MOTY awards program. Additional information and can be found online at www.wimoty.com or by calling (800) 362-7301.
