WHITEWATER - Erica Hegi, a senior music major from Monroe, will serve as accompanist in the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater's upcoming production of "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street."

The musical thriller tells the story of an exiled barber who returns home to London to seek revenge on the man who destroyed his life. The university's music and theater and dance departments are collaborating on the musical.

Over winter break, the cast spent eight hours per day in rehearsal to learn the music and have been putting in up to 20 hours per week on the play since classes resumed. It opens Tuesday and continues through Feb. 27 on the Whitewater campus.

Hegi is the daughter of Jim and Laurie Hegi, Monroe.
