MONROE - Monroe Clinic announces the appointment of Mark Thompson, MD, as its new chief medical officer.
Thompson comes to the Clinic from Appleton where he previously served as program director of Fox Valley Family Residency. He began his role as chief medical officer at Monroe Clinic on March 3. In this position, he oversees clinical services throughout Monroe Clinic while working closely with medical staff and Clinic leadership to monitor service quality and meet organizational goals.
Thompson received his medical degree from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and completed his residency at MidMichigan Medical Center. Thompson's record of accomplishments includes 13 years as a family medicine physician, eight years of administrative experience, and four years of service in the U.S. Air Force.
Thompson holds memberships in the American Academy of Family Medicine, the Society of Teachers of Family Medicine, and Association of Family Medicine Residency Directors. He currently serves on multiple committees for the University of Wisconsin Department of Family Medicine.
"I was attracted to Monroe Clinic and hospital because it is a totally integrated system. This allows us to have even more of a positive impact on quality in healthcare," Thompson said of his decision to join the Clinic.
Thompson also said he looks forward to helping the Clinic continue to strive to demonstrate in excellent quality in patient care and make those results available to the public.
