Monroe: Sign up for severe weather class by March 7

MONROE - Green County Emergency Management is having their popular annual hazardous weather-tornado spotters training on Tuesday, March 11. Two sessions are offered. The first class is at 12:30 p.m. in rooms 413-414 at the Blackhawk Technical College-Monroe campus. The second class will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Monticello Fire Department. Classes are about 1 1/2 to 2 hours long. Participants will learn how to correctly identify the development of a tornado and learn more about thunderstorms. This free training is open to anyone who is interested in learning more about hazardous weather. The classes are taught by Rusty Kapela, Warning Coordination Meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

Pre-registration is necessary by calling Green County Emergency Management at 328-9416 by March 7.
