MONROE — The Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin (CFSW) this month announced that the Monroe Public Library has successfully completed the Southern Wisconsin Incentives for Tomorrow (SWIFT) Matching Campaign, a regional fundraising effort that is helping libraries build long-term sustainability. Through this initiative, the Monroe Public Library has established a permanent endowment fund with the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin (CFSW) to support its ongoing operating needs and ensure the library remains a vital resource for generations to come.

The SWIFT phase 4 program was created to encourage libraries across southern Wisconsin to invest in their future by building endowment funds. Collectively, 22 libraries have raised more than $400,000 through this matching campaign, laying the groundwork for financial stability and continued growth.

Each dollar raised is matched through the SWIFT program, multiplying the impact of every gift from community members and library supporters.

“We are thrilled to be working on the long-term sustainability of our local libraries,” said Wyatt Jackson, CFSW President/CEO. “The Monroe Public Library is more than a building-it’s a hub for learning, connection, and opportunity. By creating an endowment through CFSW, we are ensuring that the library will continue to serve the people of Monroe well into the future.”

The endowment fund established at the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin will provide a steady, permanent source of income to help with the library’s operational needs, such as updating collections, maintaining technology, and providing community programming. Contributions to the Monroe Public Library are invested for growth, with annual earnings directed back to the library to support its work.

“This is an inspiring example of what communities can do when they come together,” said Mary Jo Villa, CFSW Board Chair. “The Monroe Public Library is making a long-term investment in its future, and we are honored to partner with them in this important work.”

Community members are invited to contribute to the Monroe Public Library at any time. Gifts of all sizes will help grow the fund and ensure that the library continues to thrive as a cornerstone of education and enrichment in the community.
