MONROE - The Noon Optimist Club is working with Monroe Area Skatepark Enthusiasts to help promote safety and training for inexperienced skaters.

On opening day of Honey Creek Skatepark, in June 2006, Noon Optimists sponsored some skateboard instructors from Madison to help with safety and learning techniques for skaters and provided parents with safety packets about skating.

Currently Noon Optimist and MASE are working together to design a program for a Skate Day Camp that will be presented to the Monroe Park Board for approval at their May meeting. Hopefully advertising for the camp will start before school is out and Day Camps will start in June.

With the donations and fund-raising of Monroe Park and Recreation and MASE, the two largest pieces of the skatepark will be installed this coming June. MASE is continuing to ask for donations and fund-raising to purchase the last two pieces of equipment for PHASE II which are currently priced at $32,000.

Tax Deductible donations can be sent to: Monroe Fund/MASE Fund, P.O. Box 733, Monroe, WI 53566. Contact Tom Miller, 329-4421, about donations or to have a presentation or about any questions of the skatepark.

Honey Creek Skatepark is part of the Monroe Park system. MASE is helping Monroe Park Board by donating all money raised to Park and Recreation Department to purchase the skatepark equipment that MASE recommends purchasing to build Honey Creek Skatepark.
