MONROE - The Green County Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC) reminds business owners who handle, manufacture, or use hazardous chemicals that it's time to file inventory forms and send in the related documents. The filing deadline for 2007 hazardous chemical inventory is March 1, 2008.
Businesses, agencies, facilities or manufactures which have threshold quantities of hazardous chemicals or extremely hazardous substances, identified under the Superfund Title III, Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), will need to report.
You must report your inventory if it exceeds a threshold of 10,000 or more pounds of a hazardous substance or if there is an extremely hazardous substance at or above the threshold planning quantity or 500 pounds (whichever is lower). Facilities with reportable quantities that have fewer than 10 full-time equivalent employees are exempt from paying fees, but must still complete required reports.
Original inventory forms are to be mailed to Wisconsin Emergency Management, Facility Reporting Section, P.O. Box 7978, Madison, WI 53707-7978, and copies must be sent to the Green County LEPC, Courthouse, 1016 16th Ave., Monroe, WI, and to the local fire department that serves the facility.
Instructions on the forms will list where the fee payment and remittance forms are to be sent.
If you have not received one in the mail, you can download the forms by going to the Wisconsin Emergency Management website at http://emergencymanagement.wi.gov, click on the Hazardous Material and EPCRA and then EPCRA forms and resources; or call Green County Emergency Management at 328-9416 for assistance.
