MONROE - What is a respiratory therapist? What do they do? What about a laboratory technician...or an occupational therapist? What happens in the Medical Lab? Who works there? Albany, Brodhead, Juda, Monticello and New Glarus School District students will learn the answer to these questions and others at Green County Club Scrub, a new health careers program for high school students, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, June 26 and 27, at Monroe Clinic.

Green County Club Scrub is a summer school program designed to spark interest in health-related careers among high school age students through informative, hands-on activities. Students will have the opportunity to speak with health care providers and try things out in a variety of hospital departments, (including the laboratory, nursing areas, emergency room, surgery, and various therapy departments).

The primary goal of the program is to increase awareness of health-related professions and the numerous career opportunities that are available in the health sciences. Green County Club Scrub is a great opportunity for students to acquire this knowledge by working side-by-side with Monroe Clinic employees working in the field.

This is the first Green County Club Scrub program. Students were selected by their school administrators and teachers to attend. Monroe students were not included because they attended this program during the school year. Additional information about Green County Club Scrub can be obtained by contacting Gail Eiserman, talent sourcing specialist at Monroe Clinic at 324-1590 or gail.eiserman@monroeclinic.org.
