MONROE - A Good Friday Tenebrae service will be held Friday, March 21, at Monroe United Methodist Church.
Pastor Dennis and Nola Weis will lead the ecumenical service at 1 p.m. Tenebrae is Latin for "shadows."
The Tenebrae Service uses scripture passages and hymns to remind of us the sacrifice of Jesus for our sins.
We remember the death of Jesus and recall his seven last words on the cross.
As we remember his last words, the candles will be extinguished one by one.
The congregation then departs in silence.
