PLATTEVILLE - The Monroe FFA Chapter participated in the local career development events at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville campus, as well as the state contest at the UW-Madison campus.
CDEs allow FFA members to demonstrate knowledge and skills learned from their agriculture classes, personal SAE (supervised agricultural experience) and other FFA activities.
On March 26, the Monroe FFA Chapter sent a total of six CDE teams, ranging from livestock judging to wildlife. The ag mechanics CDE team placed sixth overall, with Joel Faith placing third out of 161 contestants. The ag mechanics team, along with two other CDE teams, qualified for the state CDE contest held on April 24 in Madison.
The ag mechanics team won the state contest. Faith, a junior at MHS, placed first overall, and Traiten Gorr, also a junior, placed 14th. The team consisting of Faith, Gorr, Nick Maveus and Mitch Millner will be continuing on to the National CDE Contest at the National FFA Convention in October.
