Monroe: Company Dancin' competes at convention

MONROE - Studio M Dance Academy, Monroe, competed March 7-9 at Hollywood Connection Convention Chicago Regionals in Chicago.

The Senior Dance Company, Dancin' competed with three dance pieces. Katy Amphlett, Chelsea Fetterolf, Tawni Karlen, Ariel Krupke, MacKenzie Hilliard, and Katie Gaulrapp performed a jazz piece called "Black Coffee," which received a gold award.

Katie Gaulrapp, Ariel Krupke, Katy Amphlett, and MacKenzie Hilliard performed a jazz piece called "Night of the Dancing Flame," which also received a gold award. Kathy Amphlett, Alexa Schmidt, Ariel Krupke, MacKenzie Hilliard, Chelsea Fetterolf, Tawni Karlen, Katie Gaulrapp, Emily Treuthardt performed a jazz piece called "Rock This Party" which received a silver award. Megan (Campbell) Jorenby and Molly Campbell, artistic directors and co-owners of Studio M dance Academy, choreographed all three pieces. Sue Larson was the backstage dresser. The competition was held in conjunction with a learning convention where the girls participated in master classes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
