MONROE — SSM Health Monroe Hospital and SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Janesville Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Chelsea Hardacre was surprised with SSM Health’s highest honor on March 25.
The Presidential Coin, presented by SSM Health President and CEO Laura Kaiser, recognizes SSM Health caregivers who exemplify commitment to living the Mission of SSM Health.
Hardacre was nominated for the award by SSM Health Wisconsin CNO Caren Lewis.
“When I think about a great leader, my immediate thought goes to someone who embodies excellence and always goes above and beyond their job duties,” Lewis said. “Chelsea Hardacre does that and shows a compassion and respect for others that sets her apart.”
Lewis commended Hardacre’s ability to support teams with day-to-day operational needs, in addition to providing exceptional leadership during challenging situations or emergencies.
Lewis also noted that Hardacre’s creativity and focus on continuous improvement has grown opportunities for rural healthcare nurses to grow and serve their communities.
Hardacre joined SSM Health Monroe Hospital in 2015. She brought 10 years of healthcare experience to a role in Quality and Safety. She became director of quality in 2016 and became CNO in 2020. Hardacre became CNO of SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital-Janesville in late 2023.
