JANESVILLE - Gottlieb Brandli, a Swiss Cabinetry maker from Monroe, will speak on chip carving when the Rock River Valley Carvers meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7, in the upper level of the Senior Center, 69 S Water St, Janesville.

If you have ever wondered how those intricate little diamonds and triangles are created on a piece of wood that is turned into a beautiful plate or jewelry box, this is the program for you.

Brandli is noted for his fine furniture and small pieces of basswood that are so popular for chip carving. He will demonstrate the fine art of chip carving and will also have finished pieces on display. Members of his Monroe carving group will also attend and help answer questions.

A progress update will be given on the upcoming fall Show and Sale at a short business meeting.
