MONROE - Collection day for the annual Scouting for Food drive, benefiting the Green County Interfaith Food Pantry is Saturday, March 1.
Donations should be placed on the front step by 9 a.m. Saturday. Use of the Scouting for Food bags is encouraged but not required. Set nonperishable items out in any type of grocery bag you have available.
Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venture Scouts, together with other youth organizations, will pick up donations and deliver them to the pantry. If a donation has not been picked up by noon on Saturday, call the Green County Food Pantry in Monroe at 329-7511 or drop off the donation at the Monroe pantry. Donations may also be left at local grocery stores or area churches.
Blackhawk Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, hopes to collect 100,000 food items for local pantries on Saturday. More information is available by calling Dan Bestul, Arrowhead District chairman, at 325-4924.
