ORANGEVILLE - Season tickets are now on sale for The Mighty Richland Players Dessert Theater 2016 season.
The theater will play host to four shows this year. Located in the historic Masonic Hall, the Orangeville Theater's audience not only will get to see a show but also will have a dessert during intermission.
This spring, the comedy "The Ladies of Harmony" will be produced. Six church ladies of Harmony gather together to plan a small funeral dinner for a man they despised. As they visit with each other and plan, the ladies end up revealing secrets about themselves best left unsaid. The play, directed by Orangeville's Amy Jo Beightol, will be presented on March 18, 19 and 20.
The early summer play will be a murder mystery, "Girls Night Out." Four women, on their way to an evening at the theater, stop for dinner at the establishment owned by the ex-husband of one of them. Between the salad and entree, he ends up dead, and each one of them has a reason to wish him dead. This show has multiple endings, so each show night will have a different ending. Dates for this show are June 24, 25 and 26.
"A Nice Family Gathering" is the fall show. A comedy, this play will be directed by Kim McIver. It is Thanksgiving Day and the first family gathering at the Lundeen household since the patriarch died. At the gathering, Dad comes back as a ghost with a mission: To tell his wife he loved her, something he neglected to tell her while he was alive. However, not only can she not see or hear him, she has also invited a date for dinner. Performances will be held Sept. 16, 17 and 18.
The Annual Christmas Show is on Nov. 26 and 27. It will include favorite holiday tunes, skits and merriment.
All Friday and Saturday shows are at 7:30 p.m. Sunday shows have a curtain time of 2 p.m. To make reservations for individual shows or to receive information on season ticket prices, call 815-819-1310. Group rates are available.
