ORANGEVILLE - The Mighty Richland Players have set their 2018 season and are well into rehearsals for the winter show, "Let Him Sleep 'Til It's Time for His Funeral." Weekend shows are at 7:30 p.m. March 2 and 3 and 2 p.m. March 4.

This comedy has an ensemble cast and crew, and brings together people from McHenry, Pearl City, Freeport, Monroe and Orangeville. The show synopsis is about a man who is anxious about turning 50. His wife, trying to be funny and to also show her husband how much he is loved, plans a funeral for him. When he finds her notes on it, he thinks she is trying to kill him. He tells her he is taking a fishing trip but really is running off to Mexico. She finds the ticket and thinks he is leaving her. Just when it looks like everything is about to unravel for both of them, fate steps in and causes even more havoc.

Several more shows are planned for this year.

"Opal's Husband" brings back the lovable Opal to the Mighty Richland Players stage. This time she's looking for a husband for Rosie and answers a lonely-hearts ad placed by "Mister Handsome." When he shows up, he proves to be a 95-year-old escapee from a nursing home. Show dates are 7:30 p.m. June 22 and 23 and 2 p.m. June 24.

"Cruising for Murder" is an interactive murder mystery dinner to be held at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 22. This performance is a fundraiser for the Orangeville theater. After a luxurious week at sea, all on board the Mystery of the Seas are ready for a night of romance and intrigue at the Captain's Cocktail Reception, an extravagant affair. Adrift on the ocean, there is no better place to escape troubles... or for a murder. Trapped at sea, no one is safe and everyone is a suspect. As secrets are revealed, everyone's innocence will come into question as the assassin tries to appear angelic and guests try to solve the crime.

"A Charlie Brown Christmas" will round out 2018. Keeping true to the TV show, it brings to life the Charlie Brown characters. Music of the season will accompany the show. Weekend show dates are 7:30 p.m. Nov. 24 and 30 and 2 p.m. Nov. 25. A special Christmas season dinner performance will be held at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 1 and a special children's matinee will be held at 2 p.m. Dec. 2. Children can see the show, meet the cast and have their pictures taken with Snoopy and the Peanuts Gang. The children's matinee is not a dessert performance. All shows will be at the historic Masonic Lodge, 203 West High St. For more information on any of the shows or the theater, log onto mightyrichlandplayers.com.
