MONROE - Monroe High School will present "The Phantom Tollbooth: Fantasy Theatre for Young Audiences" from Friday, Nov. 15 through Sunday, Nov. 17.

The play will introduce Milo, a typical 10-year-old who is consistently bored. That changes when he receives the gift of a Phantom Tollbooth and enters the Lands Beyond. Once Milo finds himself in the Doldrums, he is right back where he began. With the help of his friend, Tock, and the lessons he has learned through his journeys, Milo manages to overcome boredom and eventually becomes so good at inspiring himself that he no longer needs the flash and excitement of the Lands Beyond to hold his attention.

The play is written by Susan Nanus, and is based off the book with the same name, written by Norton Juster. The play, directed by Jerome Cherney, will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16 and at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17.

Tickets are available at Woodford State Bank, 403 W. 8th St., Monroe; First National Bank and Trust, 1625 10th St., Monroe; Wisconsin Bank and Trust, 1717 10th St.; Monroe High School, 1600 26th St.; and at the door an one hour before the play begins. The cost is $5 for adults, $2 for students and senior citizens, and free for children 5 and under.

Patrons will receive $1 off ticket prices with the donation of a non-perishable food item for the Green County Food Pantry.
