MONROE — The Monroe High School theater will be sending their One-Act Play to State for the fourth year in a row.

The students compete in the Wisconsin Interscholastic Speech & Dramatic Arts Association’s high school theater One-Act competition. Schools that advance through district and sectional contests will perform one-act plays for professional adjudicators at state, who evaluate each production on acting, directing, design, and overall effectiveness. The festival celebrates excellence in student theater by offering feedback rather than rankings, emphasizing growth, collaboration, and artistry.

Monroe High School will compete on Thursday, Nov. 20 at the UW-Stevens Point campus.

This Saturday, Nov. 15,  the students will be performing The Great Gatsby in One Act and would love community members to join them. Experience the world of Gatsby like never before in this dazzling one-act play filled with 1920s glamour, jazz, and heartbreak. Step into Gatsby’s world of love, lies, and the pursuit of the American Dream — where every moment shimmers with illusion. Tickets are $5 at the door. Ticket sales support the students’ ability to participate in the WISDAA competition.
