MONROE - Gavin Daniel Stormont is the recipient of the third annual William C. and Margaret L. Parmer Scholarship.

Stormont is a 2006 graduate of Monroe High School and is enrolled at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the medical school as a rural family-practice physician. He is currently seeing patients in Marshfield.

Stormont's ultimate goal is to remain in Wisconsin, in a town in or around Monroe because of his close relationship with his family and friends.

The Parmer Scholarship was created by Margaret Parmer, a Monroe resident, who saw a need to help students with the high cost of their education. The student must be accepted or enrolled in medical school. Parmer's husband, William, passed away in 2005, and this was something they often had talked about doing.

The William C. and Margaret L. Parmer Scholarship Fund is a component of the Community Foundation of Southern Wisconsin. For more information, contact Linda Gebhardt, donor service representative, at 608-328-4060 or linda@cfsw.org.
