DARLINGTON — Memorial Hospital of Lafayette County (MHLC) was announced June 21 that Michelle Reisen-Garvey, PA, has signed an employment agreement and will soon become the newest member of the MHLC medical staff.

“For those who know Michelle and have been cared for by her, understand how special she is and how committed she is to providing compassionate, quality care,” said Kathy Kuepers, Chief Executive Officer of MHLC. “I speak for all of us at MHLC when I say we are thrilled that she will be returning to Lafayette County to practice.”

Reisen-Garvey will be joining the MHLC primary care team during the fall of 2021. Once an official start date is set and details are finalized in establishing her practice within the clinic, additional information will be announced.

“As I reflect on my 21 years as a Physician Assistant, I have to say how fortunate I have been to enjoy what I chose for my career. Rural health, and in particular family practice in Lafayette County, are what I have enjoyed the most,” Michelle Reisen-Garvey, PA, said. “Coming back allows me to see patients of all ages in a community that has always been very supportive of me and where I have felt the most rewarded both personally and professionally.”

Though the arrangement has been in discussion for some time, solidifying the agreement is part of MHLC’s “Healthier Lafayette County (HLC)” initiative, which it launched this year. HLC is a reinstatement of MHLC’s long-term commitments to the community. It vows to continue protecting and investing in the community’s health infrastructure responsibly, advancing and increasing services it offers following community needs and driven by data. The HLC initiative’s objectives also include striving to be the region’s preferred healthcare employer and delivering the highest quality of care and service to all those served by the county-owned hospital.
