Math teams advance to state competition

ALBANY - Math teams from the Albany school district will be heading to the state math meet in May, after their performances in a competition in Juda.

The fifth-/sixth-grade team competed in Juda on April 10 and took first place. The team consists of Nathaniel Ross, Ben Lent, Kirsten Oliver, Sydney Bloedel, Haley Mueller, Piper Bailey, Ivy Horn and Brandon Janes. Winning individual awards were Bailey, placing first, and Ross, placing third overall.

The seventh-/eighth-grade team competed in Juda on April 17 and took second place, narrowly losing to Parkview.

The team consists of Brittany Janes, Kelsey Hoesly, Logan Ross, Kassi Huffman, Hailey Stefanik, Hunter Overland, Kyle Hulbert and Jacob Elmer. Ross won first place honors and Elmer scored fifth place overall.

The fifth-/sixth-grade math teacher is Stuart Ritzert, the seventh-/eighth-grade math teacher is Ann Trow, and the math team coach is Gifted/Talented Coordinator Susan Gorski.
