ALBANY - The Albany High School Math Team took second place at the Six Rivers Conference Math Meet held March 16 at Juda High School. Juda won the competition over Albany by less than 100 points. Senior Courtney Pfeuti was the second high individual overall.
The following students placed for Albany:
Junior/Senior Level: First team gold medal, Courtney Pfeuti; second team silver medal, Ingrid Kallgren.
Freshman/Sophomore Level: First team gold medal, Jared Anderson and Logan Anderson; second team silver medal, Lillian Horn.
Other competitors from Albany were: Hillary Best, Sydney Bump, Megan Farley, Joseph Blumer, KayLee Johnson, Reece Whitehead, Chad Helland, Josh Krueger, Ciara Kubesh, Josh Peters, Julia Farley, Taylor Bechen, Ty Mauerman, Johnny Kallgren, Kirstie Kauk, David Edmondson, Ethan Pfeuti, Grant Schoenenberger and Shyann Carstensen.
This is the third year Albany has sent a math team on the high school level. Albany students competed against the other high schools in the Six Rivers Conference consisting of Argyle, Barneveld, Black Hawk, Juda, Monticello and Pecatonica.
Susan Gorski coordinated the event and math instructors Ryan Schmitz and Ann Trow organized the teams and accompanied them to the competition. Principal Traci Davis tabulated team and individual results for all participating teams.
