MONROE - The Green County Wisconsin Master Gardeners Association will be conducting their annual plant sale from 9 a.m. to noon May 12 in the auditorium of the Government Services Building, Pleasant View Complex, N3150 Wisconsin 81.
The plant sale is an opportunity for area residents to purchase hardy zone four perennials, herbs and annual plants that have been grown locally by UW-Extension Master Gardener volunteers.
Started vegetable plants, houseplants and unique plants will be available as well as several handcrafted garden use items.
The Green County Master Gardeners Association uses the proceeds from this sale to distribute scholarships to Green County area youth who are enrolled or planning to enroll in secondary education in a horticulture related field of study. Funds also are used for other Master Gardener educational events.
UWEX Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand to help select plants to fit individual gardening needs. Volunteers are trained by UWEX specialists to assist the public with garden and horticulture related questions and also provide thousands of hours of volunteer hours to community projects through Green County each year.
There are currently over 30 Master Gardener volunteers available to help answer gardening, turf, shrub, fruits, prairie and other horticulture questions through the UWEX office in Green County. For more information, call 328-9440.
