MONROE - The South Central Wisconsin Master Gardener Association will present scholarships to qualifying youth who are enrolled in secondary education in a horticulture-related field of study. Applicants may attend a four-year university or a technical college.
Applications are due by Saturday, March 31 and scholarship recipients will be announced in May.
To apply for the scholarship, the applicant must be a graduate of a Green County area high school or a Green County resident continuing his or her education after high school. The scholarships will be awarded after the student has successfully completed one semester of study and has sent the scholarship committee proof of re-enrollment for the next semester.
Requirements include completing an application, supplying the names and contact information of three references, giving a brief explanation of his or her need for the scholarship and the significance of its benefits to his or her future plans, including personal goals and objectives. Up to $1,000 will be distributed annually.
More information is available by contacting Kristi Leonard, University of Wisconsin-Extension activity assistant, at (608) 328-9440 or by fax at (608) 328-9519. The applications are also available on the UW-Extension website at green.uwex.edu.
