MONROE - Blackhawk Technical College is hosting a bone marrow donor registration from noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, in room 415 at BTC, 210 4th Ave.
Those who register must be between 18 and 55 and in good general health. Those who register with Deutsche Knochenmarkspenderdatei gGmbH (German Bone Marrow Donor Center in English) can be found as a donor match for any patient in need of a bone marrow transplant.
DKMS does not require new donors to pay the registration fee and does not receive government funding. To register one potential bone marrow donor, it costs DKMS $65. The organization relies on donations from the general public to fund donor registrations; 100 percent of financial contribution is used to register new potential donors.
More information is available by contacting Carol Neeno at (608) 322-0868, emailing cneeno@students.blackhawk.edu or visit DKMS's website at www.getswabbed.org.
