MONROE — The Infinity Yoga Studio (1218 17th Ave) will continue to partner with Main Street Monroe to host outdoor yoga classes downtown after classes last summer and this year have proved popular for area residents.

Originally, Main Street approached Cathy Hauck, owner of the Infinity Yoga Studio, about teaching classes last summer as the nonprofit repositioned its summer programming because of the pandemic. Both Cathy and Main Street’s director, Jordan Nordby, thought the timing would be right with summer returning to its normal fast paced busy weekends. However, interest in the classes has led it to being part of Main Street’s general event calendar as it hosts its normal events, including concerts and the summer kickoff event in 2022.

“People are appreciative of Cathy’s talent and having an exercise related activity to work into their weekdays right here in town. It’s been really fun for both experienced people and those new to yoga,” stated Jordan Nordby, Main Street’s executive director.

Hauck emphasized that all levels are welcome. In fact, the class will be continue to be taught based on attends. For those who have them, a yoga mat is suggested. Otherwise, a towel will be fine. Hauck ends the class with a bit of meditation. Because it is open to all levels, it makes it a good time to check out yoga, get back into it, or just switch things up, stated Hauck.

The next upcoming class will be Saturday, July 11th from 9:30. That time coincides with Main Street’s weekly farmers market. The other newly announced class will be Thursday, August 18th at 5:30pm. Both classes will be an hour long.

Hauck opened The Infinity Studio in 2008. It is across from Turner Hall. Hauck graduated from the 500-hour Yoga Therapy Teacher Training Program through Alignment Yoga with Scott Anderson in 2013, and continues to take training classes and workshops to keep my teaching fresh. Since the pandemic, she has been offering classes online ranging from yoga, Reiki, and meditation.

Main Street is asking that anyone interested in Yoga on the Lawn simply reserve their spot. There is no charge to attend. Spots can be reserved by going to their Facebook page: facebook.com/MainStreetMonroeinc/ and finding the specific event or by calling 608.328.4023.
